Thank you for your patience as we navigate youth sport activities during the COVID-19 pandemic!  Please find below information regarding the 2021 youth football season:




Fall Tackle Football:

  • Grades 5th-6th
  • 7th Grade Team (JV)
  • 8th Grade Team (Varsity)

Fall Flag football:

  • Grades K-2
  • Grades 3-4

2021 Fall Football Information:

Welcome to the 2021 NYF season, we are looking forward to a great year!  The Newberg Youth Football mission is to develop players into outstanding student athletes while emphasizing strong fundamentals, good sportsmanship and team camaraderie.  NYF is a proud member of the Tualatin Valley Youth Football League and is run through Chehalem Park and Recreation District.

5th-8th Grade Tackle Football Info:

  • $299 Early Registration Fee, total must be paid by 7/15/21
  • $324 Late Registration Fee, total must be paid by 7/31/2021
  • After 7/31/21, players placed on wait list
  • Sibling Discount, $100 per player, use code 'SIBDISCOUNT' when registering online

K-4 Grade Flag Football Information:

  • $99 Registration Fee (Newberg/Dundee residents), $109 (Out-of-District residents), total must be paid by 7/31/21.
  • Sibling Discount, $25 per player, contact Julie Petersen @ for sibling code.


Newberg Youth Football 2021 Season Information!

Physical Information:


Providence ExpressCare at Walgreens is offering $20 sports physicals to Newberg Youth Football players for the 2021 tackle season.  To schedule an appointment, please call 888-227-3312 or online at Providence.

  • 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., seven days a week

5th-8th Grade Tackle Football Games:


Tackle football games will be played on Saturdays at several location area schools.  The game schedule, once released by the Tualatin Valley Youth Football League in late August, will be posted on the TVYFL and Newberg Youth Football websites.  Homes games for the NYF program will be held at Newberg High School, 2400 Douglas Avenue.  Home game times at NHS will be anywhere from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays beginning September 11, 2021.  The last game of the regular season will take place Saturday, October 30, with the potential of future games for those teams that make the playoffs.

5th-8th Grade Tackle Football Registration and Gear:


Registration for the 2021 tackle football season opens  April 1.   See box above to register players!

Once registered on the Newberg Youth Football website, each player should receive a receipt email that includes an OSAA Medical Release form (click here to download form!).  Please bring Medical Form to gear distribution:

5th - 8th Grade Gear Distribution - CPRD District Office (125 S. Elliott Rd, Newberg):


  • July 27:  7th & 8th Grade Players, 5:30 - 7:00 pm
  • July 28:  5th & 6th Grade Players, 5:30 - 7:00 pm

The Medical Release Contract must be signed by a physician and is the ONLY MEDICAL DOCUMENT ACCEPTED BY NYF/TVYFL FOR LEAGUE PARTICIPATION.  Typically, sports physicals are good for 2 years (you may just need to drop off physical form and have them sign) but please check with your doctor for verification.  The Medical Release form must be signed by a physician each year.

All final paperwork must be completed, signed and fees paid to be issued gear/equipment.

Players will be issued football pants, practice jersey, helmet and shoulder pads at gear distribution.  Nike game jerseys will be distributed once players are placed on a team.  Players that prefer to use personal equipment (helmet, shoulder pads or pants) must bring equipment at time of gear handout for inspection before player will be allowed to use equipment.  Equipment purchased after gear distribution must be inspected by Newberg Youth Football prior to use.

5th - 8th Grade Tackle Football Mouth Guards:


Newberg Youth Football would like to thank Wilson Orthodontics for their support!

Dr. Wilson will be offering free professional custom fit mouth guards to all 5th-8th graders this fall at their Newberg location (3100 Haworth Avenue, Suite 210).  Mouth guard impressions will be taken Thursday, August 5,   9:00 am - 12 pm).  *Custom mouth guards not available for players currently wearing braces.


5th - 8th Grade Practices:


Conditioning week begins Monday, August 9 through Friday, August 13, 5:30 - 7:45 pm.  The first 5 practices (10 hours) are non-contact for all players.  Once a player has accumulated 10 hours of practice time they are allowed to put on pads.  Please have players bring wear shorts, practice jersey and football cleats, if possible.  Bring water, helmet and mouth guard.    After school begins, teams will practice 3 days a week (6 hours); practice days/times determined by youth coaches.

The official first week of practice begins Monday, August 16.

5th - 8th Grade Draft:


Teams will be announced shortly after the draft on TBD, 2021.  Coaches only at the draft.

7th - 8th Grade Baseline Concussion Testing:


Seventh and eighth grade players are required to take a baseline concussion test administered by George Fox University professor Chris Koch.  Testing involves the player taking an online test (45 minutes) in the NHS computer lab on the following dates:

  • August 11:  7th & 8th Graders (5:30 pm)
  • August 12:  Make Up Day (5:30 pm)

5th - 8th Grade Jamboree:


Jamboree will take place Saturday, August  28, at Tualatin High School.   More info from League will follow once teams are selected. 

Please note:  team and individual pictures will be taken by TSS Photography before scheduled games at the jamboree.  Individual pictures will be used for team books so it's essential each player have a picture taken at that time.  Team books are used at weigh-in's before each game.

3rd - 4th Grade Flag Football Information:


Team Formation:

  • Flag football will be a 5 on 5 league with 10 players on each team.  Players can request a coach or teammate when registering online.
  • All teams will consist of an equal number of players.
  • We are in need of coaches!  Please contact Julie Petersen @
  • Volunteer Coaching forms must be filled out/completed to coach flag football.  Link:  Coaching App
  • We will open this league up to teams outside the Newberg/Dundee area.

3rd - 4th Grade Practices:

  • Practices will take place twice a week in the Newberg/Dundee area.  Practice time/place will be determined by coach.  Each player will be notified of team placement by CPRD prior to practices beginning. 
  • Medical Forms not needed for flag football!

3rd - 4th Grade Games:


  • Games will be played on Newberg High School’s football field (2400 Douglas Avenue) on Saturdays beginning September 25.  
  • The NHS varsity coaching staff will be charge of game management, the facility and officiating games on Saturday on turf field.
  • Games will be 40 minutes with a running clock, two 20-minute halves and a 5-minute half time.
  • Each game includes a 15-minute warm-up.
  • No score is kept and there are no standings.
  • Three games will be run at the same time on the field.  Games will be across the field, 50 yards long by 20 yards wide WITHOUT ENDZONES.
  • Fields will be marked by colored cones.
  • Equal playing time for each player.
  • Each team has 4 downs to get a 1st down. 
  • Teams may substitute freely.
  • No intentional contact.

Equipment Provided by NYF:


  • Team jersey with number
  • Mouth Guard (must be worn during games)
  • Flag belt/flags
  • Footballs
  • Players provide cleats (football/soccer) as games are played on NHS artificial turf
  • No metal cleats
  • Players may wear gloves, elbow pads, knee pads.
  • Players’ jersey must be tucked into pants/shorts if they hang below the belt line.
  • Flags will be alligator (or clip) method.

Newberg Youth Football Coaching Applications

For those interested in coaching in the Newberg Youth Football program for the 2021 season, please have all Newberg Youth Football coaching applications and certificates turned into NYF Registrar Nicole Mauter ( by August 1.

2.  Complete USA Football Certification:

  • Go to USA Football Certification
  • Click on "Get Certified"
  • Type in promo code: NEWBERGYF21
  • Finalize Purchase
  • Launch Certification

The Youth Coach Certification is currently a four hour course and will cover the following topics (the re-certification quiz will take 30-45 minutes)

  • Health and Safety
  • Coaching 101 (one time only)
  • Anti-Abuse Training (every other year)
  • Football Development Model
  • Youth Contact (for contact coaches only)

3.  Register on the TVYFL website as a coach:

4.  Two coaches from each team need to be First Aid and CPR Certified. This certification is typically good for 2 years.  Already First Aid and/or CPR certified?   Provide a copy of current certification(s).   Not certified and are interested in getting certified?   Several different websites offer a 2-year certification: 

Please pay for the training and provide a receipt for reimbursement.  Or contact Julie Petersen at to sign up for CPRD-sponsored CPR/First-Aid classes, typically held the third Saturday of each month at the Aquatic Center.

CPRD Hawg Squad Pre-Season Conditioning Camp!

This non-contact clinic is designed to prepare youth football players for the upcoming season by building muscular strengh, speed, agilities and quickness. The Hawg Squad camp, led by Newberg Youth Football president Andy Bowlby, is an opportunity for youth athletes to enter the 2021 youth football season physically prepared, in shape and ready to COMPETE!
