Hello Newberg Youth Football Families!
While the Newberg Youth Football Board monitors youth sport information and advice from the CDC, the state of Oregon and public health authorities, we wanted to update players and their families with registration information and tentative timelines regarding the 2020 youth football season.
Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) rules govern CPRD sports, including the Newberg Youth Football program. Moving forward, youth football (and youth activities such as camps) will call for a phased-in approach with direction from county and state public health authorities and the OSAA. These phases will guide Newberg Youth Football as we implement a careful and responsible commencement of play. Below is a breakdown of the current phase for football:
Phase 2 and 3, currently in development, will be released by the OSAA once each county receives approval from the state.
Your child’s health and safety are our No. 1 priority – we are closely monitoring the situation and keep families updated on guidelines and recommendations from public health authorities.
While practices and games may be modified this year, we are planning and preparing to go ahead with the 2020 season. Please join us! Registration is open on the Newberg Youth Football website at (www.newbergyouthfootball.com)! * If player is registered before June 30, use the discount code ‘FOOTBALL’ to receive an $50 off registration fee! For those already registered, the $50 discount will be applied automatically and credited back to debit/credit card used within 3 business days from date of this email.
The NYF website has been updated with current dates, please note the new OSAA medical form.
Tentative timeline:
If the 2020 youth football season is cancelled, CPRD will be offering a full refund to each participant registered.
Also, we are looking forward to the Newberg High School Youth Football Camp held July 13-16 ($84). This 4-day non-contact camp, led by NHS varsity football coach Kevin Hastin, will take place on the NHS turf field for players in grades K – 8. Register at www.newbergyouthfootball.com, free jersey included! This camp will run with guidance/requirements and recommendations from the Oregon Health Authority/Public Health Division/Kate Brown under Executive Order No. 20-25. Coach Hastin and staff will be implementing a screening process at check-in, physical distancing, stable groups and intensified sanitation/disinfection of all camp equipment.
Please stay tuned for future emails and visit us online at www.newbergyouthfootball.com, or on our facebook page (Newberg Tigers Youth Football). Questions?

Tackle football games will be played on Saturdays at several location area schools. The game schedule, once released by the Tualatin Valley Youth Football League in late August, will be posted on the TVYFL and Newberg Youth Football websites. Homes games for the NYF program will be held at Newberg High School, 2400 Douglas Avenue. Home game times at NHS will be anywhere from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays beginning September 12, 2020. The last game of the regular season will take place Saturday, October 31, with the potential of future games for those teams that make the playoffs.
Registration for the 2020 tackle football season opens April 1. See box above to register players!
Once registered on the Newberg Youth Football website, each player should receive a receipt email that includes a Player Contract and OSAA Medical Release form (click here to download form!). Please bring Medical Form to gear distribution:
The Medical Release Contract must be signed by a physician and is the ONLY MEDICAL DOCUMENT ACCEPTED BY NYF/TVYFL FOR LEAGUE PARTICIPATION. Typically, sports physicals are good for 2 years (you may just need to drop off physical form and have them sign) but please check with your doctor for verification. The Medical Release form must be signed by a physician each year.
All final paperwork must be completed, signed and fees paid to be issued gear/equipment.
Players will be issued football pants, practice jersey, helmet and shoulder pads at gear distribution. Nike game jerseys will be distributed once players are placed on a team. Players that prefer to use personal equipment (helmet, shoulder pads or pants) must bring equipment at time of gear handout for inspection before player will be allowed to use equipment. Equipment purchased after gear distribution must be inspected by Newberg Youth Football prior to use.
